Hospital Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) & Waste Tanks

Medical waste collection systems and treatment plants store high concentrations of aggressive hydrocarbons, chemical sanitizers, and complex biological effluents. Carbolink’s heavy-duty, protective chemical linings seal the inner concrete walls of holding tanks, providing an unyielding fluid barrier that completely prevents structural damage and toxic soil leakage.

The Problem

Hospital wastewater holding tanks face relentless, severe chemical erosion. The fluid mix collected inside Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) contains a volatile slurry of concentrated acids, toxic medical soaps, active sanitizers, and corrosive biological elements. This chemical mix easily attacks bare concrete structures, dissolving the protective alkaline cement paste, exposing the internal rebar, and leading to hazardous groundwater contamination leaks.

What is "Effluent Acid Corrosion"?

In hospital waste tanks, chemical compounds and organic effluents undergo continuous biochemical breakdowns, creating highly aggressive acidic compounds. These chemical acids chemically react with the calcium hydroxide inside the concrete walls, converting strong cement into a soft, mushy compound called gypsum. This chemical decay washes away easily with fluid movement, thinning the structural walls of the tank and creating large micro-cracks that allow toxic wastewater to seep directly into the environment.

Heavy-Duty Protective Coal-Tar Epoxy Barrier Lining

MCHB High-Build Barrier Systems applied across decontaminated concrete interiors — three thick, chemical-immune layers engineered to provide absolute liquid containment.

Substrate Decontamination

High-pressure water-jetting and specialized chemical neutralization scrubs across the concrete tank interiors to clear all embedded oil residues and old chemical deposits.

Deep Pore Epoxy Sealing

Application of a low-viscosity, high-penetration epoxy sealer to deeply saturate and lock the concrete’s open pore capillaries, preventing subsurface water vapor back-pressure.

High-Build Barrier Coating

Applying two thick coats of our heavy-duty protective coal-tar epoxy barrier (MCHB 100 / MCHB 101) to create an unyielding, thick protective shell over the inner walls.

— WHY CARBOLINK

Advantages of This System

Severe Chemical Immunity

Completely unaffected by continuous, direct exposure to aggressive industrial soaps, acidic sludge, hydrocarbons, and toxic medical waste mixtures.

Environmental Lead Safety

Creates a completely seamless, thick liquid barrier that stops wastewater from seeping into the surrounding soil, helping the facility pass environmental audits.

High Subsurface Adhesion

Formulated to hold a permanent chemical bond with concrete surfaces even under continuous submersion, preventing coating blisters and lifting over long lifecycles.
