FLEXIBLE PROTECTIVE AND WATERPROOFING SLURRY
A Cementitious base, 2-component polymer modified waterproofing slurry coating. It is applied to concrete and mortar to prevent water infiltration.
USES
CLI Top Cem 2K can be used for external and internal water-proofing, repair work and protection from frost and de-icing agents. Areas of application:
• Potable water tank
• Basements
• Terraces and balconies
• Bridges
• Retaining walls
• Sealing hairline cracks, not subjected to movement.
ADVANTAGES
CLI – CEM 2K Provides the following beneficial properties:
• Per-batched components
• Easy Mixing and application
• Slurry or trowellable consistency
• Good adhesion to sound surfaces
• Impermeable
• Effective barrier against carbonation process
• Non-toxic
• Non corrosive
• Slightly flexible
• Can be spray applied
SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete, mortar and masonry surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil and loosely adhering particles.Steel and iron surfaces must be free from scale, rust, grease and oil. Absorbent surfaces have to be thoroughly saturated with water prior application of first coat of CLI-CEM 2K.
MIXING
Under normal circumstances, when the full quantities of both components are mixed together, a slurry consistency will result. The consistency of the mix can be altered by reducing the amount of component A (liquid) to be used. For a trowellable consistency, use only 90% of component A (approx. 4.5kg).Mix in a clean container by slowly adding the powder component to the liquid component and stir with slow speed electric mixer (500 r.p.m).
APPLICATION
Whilst the substrate is still damp from saturation, apply the first coat. Leave to harden for approximately 4-8 hours at the temperatures above 200C before applying the second coat. For slurry consistency, apply with a hard plastic bristled brush or broom. For trowellable mortars, use a notched trowel. For floor applications, to avoid risk of damage to the first coat, it is recommended that the second coat be applied after 24 hours. If the second coat is applied 12 hours or later, the first coat shall be slightly prewetted, preferably using a fine spraying. For more details, please refer to our Technical Service Department.
CURING
Generally not required but some precautions should be taken foe applications done directly under sunlight and windly conditions.
CLEANING
Clean tools and equipment immediately with water. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
NOTE
Never apply more than 4kg/m2 of CLI-CEM 2K in one single layer. CLI-CEM 2K is not a decorative treatment and may display signs of “blooming” in damp weather conditions. This does not affect the quality of the coating in any way.
