Recommended Uses

Acrylic Color Kote T-50 is designed for use as a texture and/or top coat for recreational surfaces. It allows job mixing, providing installers with the flexibility to adjust for specific job conditions. The texture and speed of play can be modified by varying the size and amount of sand used in the mix.

Application Guidelines Surface Preparation:

Base Construction: Ensure the surface meets or exceeds the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) Guidelines For existing colored surfaces, ensure the base construction is sound and complies with ASBA Guidelines.
Substrate Cure Requirements: New hot-mix asphalt surfaces require a minimum of 14 days of curing time. New Portland cement concrete surfaces need at least 28 days of curing, followed by acid etching with phosphoric or muriatic acid before application.
Surface Condition: The surface must be smooth, clean, and free of dirt, loose paint, oils, chemicals, vegetation, and other debris. Thoroughly clean existing cracks with an air compressor and fill with a suitable crack filler.
Surface Imperfections: Flood the surface with water and allow it to drain. Mark depressions capable of submerging a U.S. five-cent piece after one hour. Once dry, patch these areas as needed.

Priming

Asphalt Surfaces: Priming is necessary if the existing asphalt is too weathered to establish a strong bond. For extremely oxidized asphalt, consult Carbolink's Area Manager.
Concrete Surfaces: Use Primer AT 107, a two-component water-based epoxy primer, to improve adhesion. No priming is necessary if the concrete surface has been previously coated with acrylic material.

Mixing Instructions

Sand Mix: Use clean sand free of clay, silt, ferrous metals, or salt. Add sand slowly to undiluted Acrylic Color Kote T-50, followed by water. Stir the mixture until homogeneous using a mechanical mixer. Stir periodically during application to ensure consistency.
Water Mix: The maximum dilution ratio is 2 parts Acrylic Color Kote T-50 to 1 part water for texture courses and 3 parts Acrylic Color Kote T-50 to 2 parts water for finish courses

Guide to Application

System Recommendation: Apply two texture course applications and one finish course for optimal performance. Use Acrylic Resurfacer SF 101 before applying Acrylic Color Kote T-50. Installation: Apply the mix with a flexible rubber squeegee, working parallel to one side of the surface. Avoid leaving ridges at overlapping areas. Keep the surface damp with a fine mist spray in hot conditions. Apply subsequent layers at 90° to the previous application.
