Surface Preparation

PUSL 15D must be applied to sound, clean, and dry surfaces to ensure maximum adhesion. Thin coatings will reflect the surface texture of the substrates, so appropriate surface preparation techniques should be chosen. The ideal substrate is a flat, lightly textured, clean concrete surface.

Substrate Preparation

1.The concrete surface must be hard, sound, and free of dust and other barrier materials such as paint, lime coatings, plaster, curing agents, laitance, and adhesive residues.
2.A suitable degreaser removes polish, wax, grease, oil, and similar contaminants before mechanical preparation.
3.Mechanically prepare contaminated concrete surfaces using scabbling, grinding, contained shot blasting, or similar equipment, and vacuum clean before applying
PUSL 15D.
4.Overwatered or weak concrete surfaces must be suitably prepared down to solid concrete by mechanical methods.
5.Remove dust and debris using vacuum equipment.
6.Any joints or cracks in the concrete base where differential movement is anticipated should be brought to the finished surface.
7.New concrete slabs must be cured for at least 28 days.

Priming

All areas treated with PUSL 15D must first be primed with CLI N18 Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer. Depending on the condition and porosity of the concrete substrate, one or more coats of primer may be required. High porosity substrates may absorb the primer rapidly; in such cases, use two coats. Poorly primed surfaces may lead to blistering or pinholing in the cured resin.

Mixing

1.Thoroughly stir the individual contents of PUSL 15D Components A and B before mixing.
2.Pour all the contents of Part B into a larger mixing vessel to incorporate Part A.
3.Mix thoroughly with a spiral mixing paddle attached to a slow-speed drill.
4.Continue mixing until a consistent, homogenous mixture is achieved.
5.Mix one or more packs simultaneously to ensure a quick installation rate.
Note: Once mixed, PUSL 15D will generate heat and lose working time if left in the mixing container or kept in bulk.

Application

1. Apply the mixed PUSL 15D material to the prepared and primed surface using a trowel or depth set rake to achieve the desired thickness.
2. Gently roll the surface with a spiked roller to release any entrapped air and blend out any trowel marks.
3. Protect the work area during installation and initial curing to prevent debris contamination.

Limitations

Do not apply PUSL 15D to floors with rising moisture or relative humidity greater than 75% during application.
. Application temperature should be above ten °C, and ambient relative humidity should be below 85%.
If moisture is present in the concrete, treat the surface with AT-107 Surface Damp Proof Membrane before applying PUSL 15D.
Discard any unused material once it exceeds its pot life.
Do not steam clean or use hot water above 50°C for cleaning.

Chemical Resistance

PUSL 15D is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including petrol, engine oil, brake fluid, mineral spirits, diesel, mild acids, and detergents.
